We began the club in 1987,with our first display of
tractors at Western
Antique PowerLand, west of Brooks, Oregon. 35 people were contacted that had an
interest in these old John Deere's, and asked if they would be interested in
bringing one or more of their tractors for display at Antique PowerLand, to
help celebrate John Deere's 150th year. After this display there was an
interest to display again, to meet and talk tractors, farming and other common
interest. So the club was formed, called the Oregon Two-Cylinder Club. With the
continuing interest in preserving these tractors, our club has continued since
1987 of displaying at Western Antique PowerLand and other shows. The interest
in the club has grown, to over 250 members with the interest of preserving and
teaching others about how these tractors have helped with farming in this area,
and other parts of the world. With this in mind we are raising funds to build a
museum building, on the ground of Western Antique PowerLand. The museum will
house tractors, equipment, memorabilia and collectables, tools, with pictures
on display, a meeting room and a library, so that we can teach the public about
history of the John Deere tractors and equipment. We have been given a
collection of some of these items to get us started. We are looking for more
donations so that we can continue to educate the public and members. We hold
bi-monthly meetings either at member's homes or other places of interest. We
send out bi-monthly newsletters to all members. The newsletter contains reports
from the president, secretary, committees, member stories, tech tips, for sale
and want ads, and the locations and times for the next meeting. We also hold an
annual auction to help raise funds for the museum. Contact any member for more
information about the club and how to join.
The benefits of being a member are:
Receiving the newsletter, meeting people with same interest, display your
collection, and having the chance to be come an officer, director, or being on
a committee, and learning how to repair or help someone else restore or repair
with your knowledge
